Where science meets sound after dark

The Learning by Doing and Atomic Choir teams proudly present Atomic Choir: Moth Night—an evening where music and ecology come together to celebrate the hidden beauty of Australia’s nocturnal life.
Featuring guest ecologists: Dr Fran Van Den Berg & Dr Caitlyn Forster
“Creepy crawlies” aren’t creepy at all—they’re crucial. Alongside our ever-charismatic moths, we’ll shine a light on ghost bats, frogs, spiders and owls, revealing how these night creatures keep ecosystems healthy. Then we’ll turn mystery into music with the Atomic Choir.

What to expect
- Live science + collaborative music: Create a spontaneous soundtrack while our experts share night-nature insights. No musical experience needed.
- After-dark wildlife discovery: Once the sun sets, head outdoors with guides to check moth traps and spot local wildlife.
- Citizen science in action: This event is part of the Great Southern BioBlitz—contribute your observations to real research.
